Three companies that have started a path towards sustainability were awarded yesterday as part of Social Week 2025 of Confartigianato. The “Sylvie” of Ghemme, which produces leather workmanship and accessories for designer labels; the paper converting company «Cavestri» of Omega; the Marazzato group, from Vercelli, have obtained the recognition "I am a sustainable company".
Ghemme's laboratory, which also inaugurated a factory in Romagnano, was born 50 years ago by Dino Vaona and today it is led by his daughters Silvia and Elisa; specializes in the production of accessories for high fashion creations. Among the initiatives taken: new high-performance machinery, an internship in collaboration with the University of Eastern Piedmont for the ecological management of waste, an improvement contract for mostly female employees.
The awards ceremony took place in Miasino at the end of a conference on sustainability with multiple meanings, starting with the economic one that Antonio Massa spoke about, head of the Credit sector of the Novara and North West direction of Banco Bpm. New ideas that combine art and design with the color green came from «We do fab lab» directed by Massimiliano Ferrè in Omegna and then from «Apiario d'autore» by Mauro Rutto, with its hives colored by artists.
The climate researcher from the Polytechnic of Milan, Gianluca Lentini, outlined the current situation characterized by an increase in temperatures with rainfall of constant quantities but concentrated in fewer days and therefore more (and devastating) intensity; projections see the temperature rising even further 1,5 degrees within 2040 e di 2,5 by 2100. «It means that the Alps will be similar to the Apennines, little snow and plants up to high altitude – he said -. The world of economics could avoid this worrying picture: the market, regardless of politics, goes in the direction of choosing renewable sources, more expensive at the beginning but depreciable in a short time. How China is doing it". «The report on the sustainability of a company has become a tool requested by the market and banks», concluded the director of Confartigianato Amleto Impaloni.
